Business Development Representative

Business Development Representative
About Us
We are a privately held company headquartered in Bolton, CT. We are a
full-service manufacturer of custom wire wound products including, but not limited to, precision
wound coils, toroids, transformers, solenoids, and other electromagnetic devices. We serve a wide
range of markets including commercial, industrial, medical, telecommunications, nuclear, aerospace,
and defense.
We provide flexible and collaborative design support, prototyping, and manufacturing services and
are well positioned to support production runs of any size. We produce many custom and unique
assemblies each year for our diverse customer base.
Purpose
The Business Development Representative is integral to the growth and success of our company. He/ She is
responsible for prospecting and building a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities to pursue and
convert into customers.


Key Responsibilities
Market Expert
• To act as a brand champion.
• Understand and communicate the market drivers for the outsourcing of precision coil
manufacturing.
• Understand and communicate market drivers for all new market segments entered through organic or
acquisitive growth.
Customer Relationship Management
• Be the champion of our CRM system.
• Liaison with Engineering, Operations and Customer Service to develop strategies to improve the
long-term value of customer relationships.
• Identify and attend events designed to promote higher level customer relationships.
Business Development Activity
• Participate in weekly sales meeting and be prepared to bring/share the following:
o Weekly call activity
o Progress against monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals
o “Successes” and “obstacles” from previous weeks
o Key initiatives and client opportunities

o Goals for the upcoming week
• Maintain, nurture, and grow new client relationships.
• Make new prospect calls each week to identify new business opportunities.
• Develop a pipeline of business equivalent to 3-4 times annual quota through pursuit of inbound
leads, networking, referrals, and self-generated opportunities.
• Have an average of no less than 1 “advancement” meeting each week.
• Enter all existing and new account activity into the CRM within 48 hours & maintain all customer
data, sales activity and forecasts in the CRM system.
• Focus on understanding the fit between client needs and firm’s capabilities. Create value
propositions that meet the customer's needs.
• Design and deliver high impact presentations that show our unique differentiators.
• Create and build relationships with key referral partners.
• Gather and share competitive data.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Contributes to company marketing strategies and execution.
Accountability
Reports to the Sales Leader. Ensures that all work is done in accordance with Federal, State and
Local requirements, customer specifications and company Policy. Keeps Sales Leader aware of all
progress and problems.
Qualifications
• Electrical or Industrial Engineering AS or BS degree from an accredited university, or
equivalent; MBA preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Business to Business (“B2B”) sales or business development
role in the industrial market; Ideally has experience with electro-mechanical equipment.
• Experience working in a small company environment.
• Experience selling the contract manufacturing service model preferred.
• Takes ownership of the role and responsibilities.
• Self-starter, entrepreneurial and creative thinking ability. A hunter and business builder – not
a maintainer.
• Must be a problem solver, solution seller and customer centric.
• Advanced skills with Microsoft Office programs
• CRM Experience required.
• Ability to travel overnight when needed <50%
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
