Job Summary
As a Sales Representative, you will play a crucial role in promoting and selling our educational products and services to Pk-12 school districts and other educational institutions. This position requires a self-starter mentality, focused on heavy prospecting and building relationships from the ground up. Your primary responsibility will be to establish and maintain strong relationships with decision-makers, including principals, administrators, federal program directors, and curriculum directors, to achieve revenue targets. Success in this role will require adaptability in new and challenging territories, as well as proficiency in video conference meetings to connect with clients effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- New Business Development: Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities by prospecting and cold-calling potential customers in your assigned territory. A hunger mentality and resilience are key to success.
- Pipeline Management: Build and maintain a robust pipeline of leads, consistently meeting or exceeding sales quotas.
- Presentations and Demonstrations: Conduct engaging presentations and product demonstrations, often via video conference, to showcase the value and benefits of our educational resources, with a focus on parent engagement solutions.
- Relationship Building: Develop and nurture relationships with key stakeholders in schools and educational institutions, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing team to strategize and execute effective sales campaigns and initiatives.
- Market Awareness: Stay updated on industry trends, competitors, and market dynamics to effectively position and differentiate our products.
- Reporting: Provide timely and accurate sales forecasts, reports, and market feedback to the sales management team.
- Travel: Occasional travel (20%) within the assigned geographic territory is required. As well as annual trips to home office for product and sales training.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Education, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience: Proven track record of success in sales, preferably in the educational publishing industry or a related field. Experience in new market development is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport and credibility with customers.
- Excellent presentation and negotiation skills, capable of articulating complex concepts clearly and convincingly, especially through virtual platforms.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented, with a strong drive to achieve and exceed sales targets.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
- Familiarity with K-12 education and parent engagement resources is highly desirable.
- Home Office Requirement: This role requires a dedicated home office setup, including a quiet, professional environment, reliable high-speed internet, all which are necessary for virtual meetings and remote work. The ideal candidate should have a workspace that supports productivity and is free from distractions.
